Reception Superheroes: A Week of Interactive Learning!

3rd October 2024
We are incredibly proud of our new Reception starters and how well they have settled into school life. From day one, they’ve taken on their learning with enthusiasm and curiosity, and it has been a joy to watch them grow. This week has been no exception, with the children fully embracing their ongoing topic of superheroes through a range of exciting, hands-on enrichment activities.
The classrooms was buzzing with creativity as the children took part in superhero vegetable crafting, transforming everyday vegetables into their very own superhero creations. There was plenty of laughter and teamwork as they worked together to bring their veggie heroes to life!
Over at the gardening station, the children rolled up their sleeves to pick out sunflower seeds from sunflowers and plant the seeds. Their excitement was contagious as they eagerly watered their plants, hoping to see them sprout in the coming days.
Our young scientists also explored the wonders of science through ice experiments. They watched in awe as the ice began to melt, discussing what happens to water when it freezes and what happens to water (ice) when the temperature is warmer. These experiments not only sparked their imagination but also developed their critical thinking skills.
Another highlight of the week was making vegetable soup. The children took on the role of little chefs, chopping up vegetables themselves to create a delicious soup. This hands-on activity not only strengthened their fine motor skills but also helped them understand where food comes from  - as have been learning about different kinds of vegetables. And, of course, the best part was tasting the soup they made!
Through these activities, our Reception children are building important skills in creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and independence. We can’t wait to see how they continue to grow throughout the year!
