Mental Health Matters: Supporting Our School Community on Mental Health Day

3rd October 2024
At Whiteknights, mental health matters! As we approach World Mental Health Day on 10th October, we wanted to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing within our school community. As a school, we are committed to prioritising mental health for both our famiiles and staff, recognising that it plays a vital role in overall development and success.
We are fortunate to partner with a dedicated mental health team, working closely with Wokingham Borough Council and the Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. These partnerships allow us to offer comprehensive support, ensuring that our community has access to the resources needed for maintaining good mental health. For more information on how to access mental health support through our school, please visit our mental health page. Alternatively you may speak to a member of our Inclusion team, our SENCOs - Mrs Connor, Mrs Lewis or our Home School Link Worker and Mental Health Lead, Miss Collard.

Supporting Families

We understand that being a parent or carer can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with its challenges. It can be particularly tough when your child is experiencing difficulties with their mental health, or when their mood or behaviour changes in ways that you find hard to understand. If you’re feeling unsure about what steps to take, remember you’re not alone.
There are also excellent resources available through Young Minds. This organisation provides a wide range of practical advice, from tips on how to help your child open up about their feelings, to guidance on navigating mental health services and accessing appropriate support. Their resources are designed to offer reassurance and guidance, no matter what you’re facing. Things can and do get better, and there is support available to help your family through any challenging time.
