Sameya's Heartfelt Journey: From Sidewalks to Selflessness
During the summer holidays, Sameya (in Year 6) embarked on a remarkable journey, walking twice around our local area for a sponsored cause. Her aim was to raise funds for the local charity Utulivu, and she not only met her goal of £75 but surpassed it, raising an impressive £85.
Such a display of determination and compassion caught the attention of Utulivu, leading to Sameya's nomination for a young person's award. At the awards ceremony, she not only received a nomination but also emerged as the youngest recipient, turning the event into an incredible and humbling experience for everyone involved.
Inspired by the dedication of lifelong charity workers at the ceremony, Sameya has expressed her aspirations to spend her life helping others. In the Summer of 2022, she organised a bake sale for Tu Vida (young carers), exceeding her target by raising an outstanding £319 through both face-to-face sales and online donations, initially setting her goal at £150.
Currently, Sameya is actively fundraising for the Whitley Community Food Bank by selling her baby aloe vera plants. Once she reaches her target of £20, she plans to join her mom on a shopping trip to Asda, carefully selecting items based on the food bank's needs. Attached are some pictures capturing the awards ceremony and the aloe vera plants she's selling – a wonderful opportunity for anyone wishing to support her heartfelt initiatives.
