Knighthood Programme
We aim to nurture personal growth and prepare our pupils for their next stages of learning and life through our innovative Whiteknights Knighthood Programme. Originally designed for Year 6, this programme takes inspiration from the training of medieval knights and teaches pupils valuable life skills that encourage responsibility, teamwork, and reflection.
In medieval times, young boys trained to become knights through various stages—starting as a page, then advancing to a squire, before finally becoming a knight, all while adhering to the chivalry code. We've adapted these stages into our modern-day programme, where pupils engage in activities that promote service, leadership, and self-awareness. For Year 6 pupils, this culminates in a celebratory banquet at the end of the year, where they are officially knighted after successfully completing their tasks.
Looking ahead, we're excited to announce that this programme will be expanded across the whole school, starting in January 2025. Linked to our PSHE scheme, Connect, this positive citizenship programme will guide pupils from Year 1 through to Year 6. The scheme encourages pupils to think about their roles in society and how they can contribute to both their school and home communities.
The programme will feature key milestones:
PAGE status by the end of Year 2
SQUIRE status by the end of Year 4
KNIGHT status by the end of Year 6
Tasks will be set both in school and at home, designed to help pupils develop new skills, support others, and reflect on their growth as individuals. Watch this space for more information on how your child can embark on their journey to Knighthood!
